In-depth Review and Comparison of CONDOR Idaho 6″ Men’s Steel Toe Work Boots

Remarks & Suggestions

Idaho work boots are for users who have a low budget and need reasonably good durability. You can go for it if you are looking for safe steel toe boots with comfort but at a low price. The most remarkable part is they have used the direct soling system. So you don’t need to worry about the separation of soles from each other.

Better for

I highly recommend these boots for those who work in the kitchen. But they are also better for the electrician, delivery person, industrial worker, hospital staff, warehouse keeper, and salesperson.

You can wear them for a long time or a 12 hour work shift. The ultra cushioning soles will help you to stand and walk a long time.

User, Expert & Trade Recognition

Points 4/5

Almost 90% of users are satisfied with these work boots. As a low priced footwear, these boots are excellent sold products for the seller. Mostly, people use these boots in the kitchen, hospital, delivery service. Also, some users are using them for construction work, but it’s not recommended because these boots are not “puncture resistance.”

Price vs. Durability

Points 5/5

They are pretty durable compared to the price. You can easily pass one year by using it on your 12 hour work shift.

As you know, these boots are made from quality leather and used direct injected outsole technology so that they will serve you pretty more months. Some people claim that they have used for almost one year and they didn’t find any damage in the upper leather, but some deteriorated in the outsole. They are quite supportive when you need to walk 3 or 5 miles a day. And I don’t think you’re gonna get a pair with 50 to 60 bucks that durable like Idaho work boots.

Points  5/5

The manufacturer mainly focused on comfort. You can find enough, roomy area in the toe box. The direct-injected TPU outsole and PU midsole and insole are quite cushioning and flexible so they give you better support when standing all day long. And they provide excellent support for bad ankles. And one more thing I want to tell you that, these boots are flex tested.

The inner padding is reasonably good, so you’ll not be going to find your feet rubbing with laces or collar. I must share an observation of mine, that is these boots are not specially made for snow and ice, but you will notice outstanding support in winter.

If your toe is wider, then I recommended to buy a ½ size bigger, and these will give you excellent comfort without any hassle.

Waterproof, Chemical resistance & Spill Resistant

Points 3/5

Idaho steel toe boots are not fully waterproof, but they give pretty good support against water. You can call it water resistant. If you are not in extreme rain, then they’ll repel water and kept your feet dry. But unfortunately, they are not chemical resistant or spill Resistant. I suggest buying a boot protector to help protect the boot from water and chemical.

Slip Resistance, Oil Resistance & Non-Marking

Points 4/5

As you already know, the outsole is made by using TPU, so these boots are a great slip and oil resistance. You can efficiently work on the slippery surface or tile floor and go back and forth all day. But these boots are not non-marking, and it’s not a big problem for work boots.

Toe Box, Safety Cap & Abrasion Resistant

Points 4/5

The toe box is quite wider and has a spacious area so you can quickly move your fingers. They have steel safety in the toe area, so I’m sure you don’t have to worry about your foot-safety.

And yes, these work boots are abrasion resistant.

Break-in Time & Fitting

Points 4/5

Yes, you need a little break-in period to make it easy to use. But it’s not more than 10 days. After broken perfectly they fit very well. No one claims that these boots are not fitting well. Some are suggesting to buy a ½ size bigger than the regular size. You might do this if you are working on a construction site or a kitchen or if you need to climb on a ladder every day.

But I’m pretty sure that you’ll not get any fitting related issues with these work boots.

Electrical Hazard & Static Dissipative

Points  4/5

These boots have an Electrical hazard feature, but not Static Dissipative. These features usually come with expensive boots. And these features are for some specific industry requirements such as electrician, an industry where big electric machines are operated, powerhouse, etc.

Style & Presentable

Points 4/5

Aren’t they stylish?

They do not look like traditional work boots. You can use them in some casual meet-ups. These boots are really looking good and presentable with jeans and a jacket. You can do cycling, motorbike riding or go for rubbing elbows with friends and trust me they’ll not look awkward. But you’re not a fool to wear them with suits for a formal party.

Breathable & Insulation

Points 4/5

I can call them breathable and well insulated. There is no breathable mesh in the boot, which is suitable for winter. But it’s very comfortable in the summer and also gives enough support in winter. They do not sweat much in the summer, but provide satisfactory support in winter for good padding and insulation.

I can call them well-balanced boots. But they’ll not give you a warm feeling in the extreme cold weather or the snow falling.

Leather, Upper, Lace & Heel

Points 5/5

The Condor has used top-class leather on the upper part, except in the collar. This leather will last a long if you use them all day long for the whole week. Also, the laces are too good. They’ve given high-quality laces like expensive boot laces with these cheap boots.

The heels are not so high, but you’ll get excellent support. These kind of heels are suitable for all-day standing and walking.

Tongue, Collar & Weight

Points 4/5

The tongues are precise to the same position at the top end and have pretty good padding. Also, the collar is well padded, so that you’ll get better comfort. Some users have complained that the tongues are rubbing against the upper part. But those complaints were for the new boots. After break-in, you’ll find them in a comfortable position. And the weight is comparatively low. It’s less than 4 lbs (depends on sizes). So as steel toe work boots, this weight is pretty small.

Insole, Midsole, Shank & Arch Support

Points 3/5

The insole and midsole are made by ultra cushioning and flexible PU (polyurethane), so you don’t need to worry about comfort as I previously said. But I’ve got a concern about the insole’s lining. The lining is not glued well, and after a few days, it’ll begin to separate from the insole foam. And one more thing I must say that the arch support is not so good with the given insole. So I suggest buying aftermarket good quality inserts for better support. One more solution I can give you that, purchase ultra-thin flat insoles and place them above the main insoles so these will prevent rubbing, and you don’t need to buy expensive inserts.

However, maximum manufacturers are giving these average types of insoles with work boots, and some are providing the worst kind of insole for their business. They are selling aftermarket good quality insoles instead of giving them with the shoes.

Unfortunately, these boots don’t have shanks also, but they are comfortable right out of the box and durable as well.

Outsole, Construction, Puncture Resistance & Sewing

Points 4/5

Idaho boots are made to focus on comfort as I said before. So they’ve made the outsole with TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethane) which are Oil, Slip and Abrasion resistance. And you know what, these outsoles are flex tested. They’ve used directed injected soling technology (AM-TECH® Direct Soling Technology) to construct these boots. It means the soles are directly attached to the upper without using glue. Traditional cement constructed soles will often tear apart or separate after short to moderate usage.

So don’t you think these are durable? Yes, they are pretty durable comparing to the price. And see the sewing, it’s not looking like any cheap boots sewing. The manufacturer has used useful quality threads and stitched very well.

But these boots are not “puncture resistance.” Most flexible and cushioning outsoles are not “puncture resistance” at all. You can’t expect both from one pair. Mostly puncture resistant soles are hard and not flexible. Those boots are specially made for construction workers.

Anti-odor & Cleanable

Points 4/5

Most work boots are made as easy to clean. These boots are also easy to clean. You can see the construction of the shoes. What do you think? It’s not a patchworked type boot that holds a lot of specks of dirt, so these are easy to clean. And it’s not declared as “Anti-odor,” but it’s not adequately insulated. So These won’t sweat very much and smell bad.

Warranty, Return & Post Purchase Service Policy

Points 5/5

The manufacturer will be giving 12 months warranty on all of their footwear. This warranty is for defects in materials or workmanship. In this situation, they will replace the shoes without any charges.

If you want a refund, then the maximum time length is 30 days of purchase but in unworn condition. But you’ll not get any replace or refund if the product damaged by regular use or excessive and abusive wear conditions.

Brand Faith

Points 4/5

Condor Outdoor Products Inc. is in the market for almost 20 years. You can call them a known brand. They are selling outdoor products, performance apparel, footwear, and other tactical accessories. They maintain good quality for their products. Also, they are producing quality products at affordable prices. Definitely, they are trustworthy.

Special & Uncommon Features

Points 4/5

  • Used AM-TECH® Direct Soling Technology.
  • Steel toe and ASTM F 2413-11 certified.
  • Comfortable and Durable with a low price tag.
  • Premium quality laces.

Points 3/5

  • Some users claim that the toe area is not wide for their feet. But it might be their big foot structure.
  • The tongues are rubbing against the upper material. You’ll not see this problem after the break-in period.
  • These boots are not puncture resistant.
  • They have no shanks.
  • No speed laces. So it’s a little hard to lace up.

Editor’s Boost

Points 4/5

I don’t have any reason to give below 4 marks.

We are getting the best comfort and pretty good durability. Also, these boots have some premium work boot features, but the price is impressively low.
