We’ve intensively gone through hundreds if not a thousand pair of work boots. We featured Boondock as #1 work boot (in a list of nearly 100 best and comfiest work boots).
Yes, these are even better than most in that class. The features are overwhelming.
Just scroll down to the sections where we explained everything you might want to know. As an example: their cold formula TPU outsole was designed so that people working in -40 degree temperatures can rock and roll. Extreme! Isn’t it?
As a user describes, “I work in construction and these have protected my feet for the past 8 years. Been working HVAC industry for 6 years… Working in them from the day i opened the box for 60+hrs a week.”
We eventually loved them for a number of special reasons. Here’s why:

In-depth review & analysis of Timberland PRO Boondock Work Boots
ShoeAsk Points: 95 out of 100
Editorial Recommendation: Very High, top class.
Remarks and Suggestions
Top class. No basic cons or shortcomings. We prefer comp toe over metal toe if the brand and series is superior like PRO.
Better for
Any high risk work.
Commercial construction, industrial, electrician, automobile, technician, warehouse, manufacturing etc. Look at Timberland’s official review:
User, Expert and Trade Recognition
Points 5/5
Skilled hard workers and their team wear them, praise them and suggest them.
“Make me feel much more safer when walk into the construction field with these boots. Best work boots I’ve ever had! Best boots out there!”
“I am a GMW2. I do ground care, tree work, equipment operating, herbicide spraying, and cement work, in these boots. Nine hour days and my feet never feel sore. will continue purchasing these boots as long as they stay available!! get these boots if you love your feet.”
Price vs Durability
Points 5/5
Did you notice extra leather/rubber coatings here and there?
That’s because they provide reinforcement with Ever-Guard™ leather in vulnerable areas of the boot. They designed these sweet beasts to last extensively. Even the basic leather is abrasion resistant which means rubbing, scraping, erosion or wearing out is delayed.
They provide better midsoles for fluffy cushioning.Guess what? These are extra durable as well.
Simply put together: If you are very rough and sort of careless, count for 8 months.
If you are not? God knows how long they are going to last.
Comfort
Points 5/5
Whenever people working in the power plants or oil rigs say something about the boots they wear to work, they are damn serious. That’s because their career and wellness largely depend on the boots they wear. What they say is somewhat like:
Boondock’s comfort, value and quality is unmatchable. If you want a sensation of wearing a pair of soft pillows, get these.
Hard working guys need sturdiness as well as easy flexibility. Shock-absorbing Anti-Fatigue technology ensures it too. Yes, you can get everything from Boondock to ensure optimum comfort:
“My 3rd year buying it and I do 12 hours every day with it. Most comfortable boot you will find for the price. Great boots for being on your feet all day.”
“These are the absolute most comfortable boots I’ve had so far and the quality cannot be beaten.”
Water, Chemical and Spill Proof
Points 5/5
The membrane does not permit water through it. The deal is, you do not get wet, messed up feet. If your footwear are waterproof, you are safe from pathogens which can intrude through the skin. Their leather is treated to be premium waterproof ensuring dry feet in all weather. Ever-Guard™ leather is superior by any means. Liquids bead up instead of pouring through and eventually shed from the surface.
Slip Resistance
Points 5/5
Slip resistant as well as oil and abrasion-resistant traction outsole. These features provide sustainable protection during demolition and general construction work and whenever you are in a hurry.
Toe Box and Safety
Points 5/5
Why wear hard safety toes if you do not have a risk of exposing the toes to extreme pressure, heat, sharp things or heavy machinery falling on your forefoot?
Yes, we know that people trust steel more than anything when it comes to toe caps. But that does not make steel the most viable option, does it? Composite safety toe caps are lighter, insulator and non-metallic protection friendly hence better than their metallic counterparts. These are asymmetrical which is naturally toe-tip friendly and consequently healthy.
These are not magnetic either; and there’s no issues regarding metal detectors. However, that does not describe everything. There’s one more thing to consider:
Timberland PRO rubber toe protector adds more to your toe protection. These also strengthen the abrasion resistance and durability.
Comp toe meets I/75 and C/75 impact compression and ASTM F2412-11 and F2413-11 safety standards.
The toe box is wide enought.
Break-in Time and Fitting
Points 5/5
Okay, people use them right out of the box at ease. They usually fit true to size which is great.
Electrical Hazard
Points 5/5
Whether you work in a construction site or industrial area, these jobs may always have a risk of electric shock. It is easy to step on a live electrical circuit, open wire, electrified conductor or apparatus. By providing underfoot and all around protection, this pair of boots would ensure the electrical hazard (EH) safety.
Boondock boots meet ASTM F2412-11, ASTM F2413-11 and ASTM F2892-11 electrical hazard standards. Everything other than the eyelets are non-metallic. Even the comp safety toe and shank are not made out of steel, aluminum or any other super conductor or metal.
Style and Presentable
Points 3/5
Let’s get it right:These are not casual, snear or oxford shoes. They are neither party props. Built to last, protect and provide comfort- that’s what concern the most. Yes there are some innovative design, looking very masculine and would look badass with uniforms.
Breathable and Insulation
Points 3/5
The thing is, if these boots were super breathable, they would have lost these features:
EH, waterproof, safety toe, abrasion resistance, longevity and maybe more.
Feet may sweat a bit and eventually you may get to know a bit of stink but it’s not fully preventable as we need other badass features. Instead, these will provide more safety and utmost comfort. These are not super breathable, but you don’t die in them.
Boots that are suitable for summer are not the same in the cold. Is winter knocking at the door? Prevent snow from making you cold, as people generally feel colder if their feet are exposed.
A busy crew working in a factory under pressure would never want the feet warmer, sweaty and stinky. Insulation is a big no-no during summer. Yes, you can choose between insulated and non-insulated Boondock boots. For winter, you bet that the feet somewhat solely determine the degree of your feelings and wellness. Get an insulated pair for that time, they are available.
Leather, Upper, Lace and Heel
Points 5/5
Boondock boot’s premium leather upper is like missile silo- super sturdy. Laces and eyelets are strong. Ever-Guard™ leather is the best. The external heel cup is rigid and farm, which provide lateral stability.
Tongue, Collar and Weight
Points 5/5
You are not working out of a boring paper pusher desk, that’s why you need to lock your upper openings with fluffy comfy tongue and well-padded collar. The tongue is completely gusseted so that it can keep dirt and rocks out of the inner parts. Top collar is contrast padded.
Oh, have you seen a `hanged-man’s tongue syndrome in the shoes and boots where those parts tend to choose a side? Right or left? Here in Boondock, they keep themselves in the middle.
Despite looking bulky, these are surprisingly lightweight. Surely, they are not sandals or flip-flops! A pair of size 9 would weigh just about 2010 grams or 4.44 pounds. Not heavier compared to work boot class.
Insole, Midsole, Shank and Arch Support
Points 5/5
You know why there’s soaring and pain after a long hard shift? That’s because, the pressure points did not distribute weight and motion during your grueling work hours. There are certain areas of the feet struggling to get rid of constant pinpointed impacts. Meet contoured insoles coming with the package. They provide max support at vital pressure and impact parts. You would not need a prescribed arch support insert which is great in terms of extra effort and a lot of money leaking.
The midsole is designed thoroughly.
TPU shank reduces weight and ensures flexibility.
Outsole, Construction and Sewing
Points 5/5
Synthetic sole. The thermal plastic urethane (TPU) outsole has double density helping with traction and wear-out issues. All the parts are stitched together with extreme professional caution.
Excellent construction. Flexibility and sturdiness is ensured by dual construction. Cement on the heel and Goodyear Welt in forefoot.
Super durable sewing. What would you get from it?
They are firm and steady as well as more flexible when you need to bend down. We have an article describing mixed construction.
Anti-odor and Cleanable
Points 5/5
Yes they are cleanable, but don’t be too rude to them while cleaning. There’s an effective antimicrobial treatment. You may suffer from less odor as hard working people can’t really stay completely away.
Warranty, Return and Post Purchase Service Policy
Points 5/5
The 30-day money back guarantee would help you a lot. If they are not super comfy, return them. They wouldn’t ask a thing. That’s the deal! Moreover, you get proper coverage.
Brand Faith
Points 5/5
Well, Timberland would not let you down, which serve the best. And PRO series is trusted all over the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.
Special and Uncommon Features
Points 5/5
Timberland PRO is a rare kind of struggle. They make the best ones, researching and developing the boots for possible maximum results. As you might know, the Anti-Fatigue Technology literally helps you walk at ease. This feature would absorb footstep-shock and distribute that energy throughout the foot to ensure comfort.
Fiberglass shank provides more support.
The construction is combined. Three-quarter is Goodyear welt and the rest cement heel construction. Other brands you get this welt as well as cement construction? You can go for Red Wing FlexForce boots.
There’s a dual-purpose top hardware setup to help instant lacing customization. There are more features scattered here and there. Loot at this tiny description from Timberland Pro:
Boondock meets every criteria you would probably consider while choosing boots for work.
Cons
Points 4/5
Boondock are meant to be a bit wider, sometimes resulting into slightly oversized structure.
As we said earlier, they can’t be super breathable and as a result you may sweat within which is true for most of the work boots.
And you might have preferred a cute looking pair but damn, this is work!
Editor’s Boost
Points 5/5
